Really Does Work!!! This chiller stick is GREAT! It really does keep your wine cold. Living on Gulf Coast in summertime heat and humidity â I was skeptical that this chiller stick would work. Wow- was I surprised! I placed the stick in the freezer for a few hours and then attached the pour spout. You do need to pour about a 4oz glass of wine to make room for the stick ( but really, who minds having to sample a glass of wine?!?!!). Mold forming… The bottom of the tube leaked. It formed a mold like substance while in the freezer. We didn’t notice until after we placed it in a new bottle of wine. We had to throw out the bottle:(
Wine doesn’t pour through the chiller I bought this expecting the chiller stick to be hollow, so that wine could flow through it, chilling as it pours (like the one my friend has; I bought this because I liked hers). However, the chilling portion is just a stick that sits in the bottle and the pouring section is up at the top. The mass is not really enough to do much, so the wine is still kind of warm. It helps a bit after it sits in the bottle a while, but I recommend looking for one that chills as it pours.
