Not really spring steel so hard to use – keep looking I have a bunch of wine openers and like the “spring steel” corkscrew type the best. You just put it over the top of the bottle and keep turning the handle until the cork pops out … at least that’s how they are supposed to work. This one just didn’t work well – it was hard to turn and because the turning “handle” was flimsy plastic I kept worrying about breaking it when I had to apply more pressure. Lasted 6 years and counting…. I use this corkscrew a couple of times every week and always worry that the plastic wings will break because they seem so flimsy. Every time a cork is hard to get out, I’m sure this will break. I needed to buy another corkscrew for a second home and realized that I’ve been using this one for nearly six years (purchased July 2012) and it still hasn’t broken. So, I’m buying the second one right now.
