BEWARE glass will explode. it’s a great party trick – … I love the design and it’s a great party trick – a lot of fun to watch the wine bubbling back into the bottle. I was totally sold on the carafe until IT EXPLODED while inverted. Luckily, nobody was hurt, but I did lose a good bottle of wine and a platter of prime rib. The only thing I can think of – I had a platter of meat resting on the counter next to the carafe, but seriously – one would think it’s common to have a carafe of wine next to a platter of meat. Destroyed a good bottle of Cab Whatever they used to impregnate the rubber part you place the bottle on, is what my bottle of expensive cab tasted like and there’s no way to clean the taste off that part. It is quite disgusting unless you like the taste of dried rubber in your wine.
I loved this thing…until it sucked. I loved this thing…until I didn’t. I don’t usually write reviews but now I feel like I have to. My wife bought me this carafe last year as a gift and it served us well all year – it aerated the wine well and we never had a problem with it, I loved it. Unfortunately I dropped it last week and broke it, my fault, so I ordered another.
